Review: I feel that I have to let everyone who reads this knows my inherent bias in favor of this film. I have twenty-eight films of Clint Eastwood as director and sees the vast majority of them wanted and kept a good number of them (my rating average for the 28 movie is 7.9). Still, something felt off Gran Torino based on the trailer. I read it as Eastwood is trying to be badass, please try again Dirty Harry. Gran Torino is not so. Walt Kowalski may have similarities with Dirty Harry, and could be read as a very old version of Harry (his lot), but it has a distinctive, memorable character on his own, and Id go so far as to say that it is a Eastwoods better performance, and with his dramatic and comic chops.Im not going to say that Gran Torino is an act of perfect supporting cast younger than he gives you a chance. show is not so. In fact, some of them are even bad at times, but the film works in spite of its flaws. This scenario was probably written with Eastwood in mind (not sure of the details behind the scenes on this one), and it shows. He perfectly captures Kowalski. The film is surprisingly funny, something that not enough is being registered in advertising. Its absolutely hilarious at times (looking like Kowalski tries to make a man Thao him to learn to speak as men do), and Eastwood manages changes to bright tone. When the film takes a turn dark towards the end I was on the edge of my seat in excitement, fully aware of where he was on the road, but still fascinated by Eastwoods direction tour-de-force. This is an artist in his prime as an actor and as director.Whether or Gran Torino will be held one of the best films of Eastwood's yet to be seen, and the film feels like it would be good. Different visions The characterization is strong and not simplistic at all, you might say that only a war veteran grumpy Kowalski, but beautiful, rich shades of Eastwood, as well as some neat little details of the scenario (especially towards the end ) that I just had to discuss in detail to avoid spoiling anything (and it's really fun to watch this film unfold, Eastwood keeps the film moving at a great pace with) would prove you wrong. The film works on another level as deconstruction. Image East Woods I do not mean that as a negative, it adds the resistance of the film as a character in a movie study.Its more intimate than other films of this year Eastwood, Changeling, and also on a smaller scale than many of its other films, but it is equally ambitious in many ways. This is not a politically correct film about a grumpy old racist suddenly turn into the most tolerant person around, it's a movie about a man who, towards the end of his life, is forced to confront his demons and the sunny side of a man that true friendship where she least expected it finds. By the end of Gran Torino I had all the defects could have been forgiven, and I was completely satisfied with the film, which has exceeded my expectations. I feel that Gran Torino, which has already met with very positive reviews (but is still described as a small film Eastwood by some), it will eventually become a very important part of Eastwood's filmography.
