Review: Typically, this English film is utterly charming - very traditional explanation Jane Austens 1813 novel, which manages to entertain, please and even move. First time director Joe Wright worked with playwright Deborah Moggachs TV script and a wonderful collection of mostly British actors delight us. Universal Camera, luscious countryside, large parameters, historical costumes and atmospheric music are proof of the work that many people love lavished.At heart of this triumph is a lovely 20-year-old Keira Knightley as Elizabeth assured and sharp Bennet, the second of five daughters looking to get married anxious mother. Knightleys increase meteor store storyteller and this is her best performance to date in the role that she is perfectly cast. Matthew Macfadyen is appropriately brooding and Ghosh, as Mr. Darcy, but the cast list is enlivened with great British character actors, including Brenda Blethyn as wax dinosaurs mother, Tom Hollander as a miniature priest looking, and Judi Dench as the formidable Lady Catherine plus Canadian Donald Sutherland (pangolins wise father). This Georgian world in which social conventions are a real minefield of misunderstanding or misconduct in formal dance that can be as complex as in connection with international diplomacy. Pride and Prejudice are just two of the obstacles to overcome before true love inevitably brings Lizzie and her nose Dark Knight (we do not even see a kiss). Things have really captured.
