Review: First of all, you know the tone of the film Die Hard in the White House. However, given the constraints, the film managed to avoid some of the pitfalls that have gone on far less artificial than the first (and still the best ones) die hard. Characters in the film that keeps it too much of a cartoon. The main character, played by Butler has fallen to grace. More cliché? D films, hed be broken, embittered alcohol (eg, Kevin Bacon below), which occurs when the possibility of redemption and salvation. Instead, Butler Secret Service agents getting on with his life desk jobs, frustrated, anxious, more, but not the shambling dead men. He is in his career, and when the events took place in the story, he reacted like a pro. Some wisecracks (he did not kill the QUIP), and low-key, which makes them more efficient. Other marks are the small details (especially Melissa Leo), who make their distinctive and worth rooting for. A very welcome touch is the way the film makers to prevent our expectations ... they've seen a lot of the same movie, and not follow a cookie-cutter approach to a bad script, they twist situations to make them new and interesting.The action is very well done and interesting. It's not a perfect film, but more than qualified, makes an impression, and in the highest praise I can offer is worth the full price.
